This site was a redesign of an existing site. The actual design part wasn’t difficult – the previous site was outdated and fixed width, I kept many of the design elements but added white space and made the site responsive. The real challenge of this build was a migration from MoveableType to WordPress. The previous site had 400 pages, all indexed in search engines.
The requirement was to move the site with seamless URL matching, requiring the use of extensive 301 redirects as MoveableType uses .htm and underscores and WordPress uses dashes and no file extension. Also, the code used by MoveableType was exported with the content, and a thorough cleaning job had to be done sitewide.
Fortunately we made it through, and here is the result!
